Emergency Services
The Emergency Services Department is comprised of an Emergency Services Coordinator whose responsibility is to provide direct local assistance during emergency and disaster situations.

The Greensville Volunteer Fire Department serves both Greensville County and the City of Emporia. The volunteer members of the department are highly trained, and stay current on the latest developments in fire fighting and rescue services

Planning & Zoning
Planning and Zoning administers and enforces the standards for land use and development as contained in the City’s Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances.

The Department of Public Utilities consists of Administration & Billing, Water Treatment Plant, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewage Collection.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for street and storm sewer maintenance, traffic engineering, refuse collection, public buildings and grounds, park maintenance, and other specialized services.

Police Department
The Emporia Police was formed in 1916 and over 107 years later we are a CALEA Advanced Accredited full-service law enforcement agency, as well as a CALEA Accredited Communications Center that is committed to: reducing the incidence of crime and improving the quality of life of all citizens and visitors of the City of Emporia.

Sheriff
The goal of the Sheriff’s Department is to operate in the most efficient manner and in the most economical way as practical, without compromising our services to the Court and the City of Emporia.

Treasurer
The City Treasurer’s office collects, accounts for, and maintains custody of all monies paid to the City.

Voter Registrar
The General Registrar is appointed for a four year term by the Emporia Electoral Board. The Registrar provides all voter registration services for the City of Emporia.
